About

Hi!

We’re Cathy and Steve and we want to thank you for choosing our beach house to spend your vacation! Steve spent much of his life down here in Wildwood and we are thrilled to share our home with you!

Here you’ll find some tips and tricks on the house and the surrounding area. Of course, Google and Yelp will always be more up to date than this static site, but we wanted to give you some info to make your vacation as relaxing as possible.

Things to know:

  • WiFi: You should have good wifi coverage throughout the house. The wifi password should have been provided to you by Don Martin Realty. If not, or if you’re having issues connecting, please contact them and they can help.
  • Cable and televisions: All common areas, and the downstairs bedroom, have a television and cable. The upstairs common room has a Roku (Note: Please remember to sign out of any accounts before you leave at the end of the week). Downstairs also has a Google Chromecast. You can stream to this directly from your phone (Instructions).
  • How to use the thermostat: Upstairs and downstairs operate on separate heating a cooling systems and each has its’ own Nest thermostat. The thermostats are in the downstairs and upstairs common areas, both next to the restroom. To adjust the temperature you simply turn the dial (The whole thermostat is a big dial).
    • NOTE: Please keep windows and doors closed, especially in the common areas where the thermostats are, in order to conserve energy and avoid wild temperature swings.
  • Storage:
    • You will find a storage area under the stairs at the front of the building. You should have been provided a key by Don Martin. If not, please contact them directly.
    • Please do not access the attic, as it isn’t a finished space so you’ll risk injury and you may fall through the ceiling if you misstep.
    • We keep the basement off limits to guests as the building mechanicals are located down there.
  • Grilling: We hope you enjoy the gas grill! If the propane begins to get low, please give Don Martin Realty a call and we’ll arrange for a new tank! You’ll notice it’s chained to the fence for safety and security reasons. This area is an ideal spot for grilling with appropriate space from combustible items. Please don’t try to move it! Be safe, use proper precautions and enjoy! If you bring your own grill, or other outdoor cooking equipment please use it either next to the grill on the pavers or in the driveway at least 15 feet from any building. Please do not grill on any of the porches.
  • Hose: Please use the outdoor hose at the front of the property to wash off sand before entering. We love the beach…just not in the house or in our plumbing. Sand clogs the vacuum and pipes. It’s inevitable….but please do your best to not bring it in the house.
  • Washer and Drier: There are two sets of washers and driers. One in the utility closet upstairs and one in the utility closet on the first floor. Please use the washer, drier, and AC responsibly. We are hoping to convert the house to green energy soon- but we’re not there yet. If you see any malfunction, please give Don Martin Realty a call. Also, if you can keep the washer door ajar for a bit after use, it will help minimize mildew buildup.
  • Kitchen & Bath: Please feel free to use any items in the kitchen and bathrooms… some of these are items we’ve bought specifically for guest use and some are items that have been left behind for other guests.
  • Fire Prevention and Smoke Alarms: Several fire extinguishers are located throughout the house, and are inspected regularly by the Wildwood fire department. Smoke and CO2 alarms are also located throughout the house and tested by the Wildwood fire department. We recommend using the oven vent fan to avoid unintentionally setting off the smoke alarms while cooking.
